ANCIENT TIMES IN KIRUVERES

Estonians have lived here on this very spot for thousands of years. Our history reaches far deeper into the past than almost any other nation in Europe. Our ancestors travelled, but always returned. They visited faraway lands and seas, but they always came home to stay. The farmsteads, fields and graves of our ancestors were here when Rome was founded. They were right here when Rome fell and London, Paris and Berlin became cities. We know little of the ancient times, but what we do know is worth a thousand stories...

You have reached a homepage of estonian Late Iron Age re-enactors. We are people, who can not be satisfied by history books, but who have decided to recreate a piece of ancient Estonia. We try to reconstruct the colourful and interesting world of our ancestors with cooperation from other similar associations here and abroad.

Annual Kiruvere Muinaslaageris a gathering of re-enactors and enthusiasts of Iron Age, whose goal is to reconstruct the specific historical period of Estonia and its surrounding areas. In their goal the re-enactors and enthusiasts are relying upon the studies of archaeologists and historians. The historical period of Kiruvere Muinaslaager is set between the 9th and 12th century AD (roughly the years 850-1150 AD) and geographically centred on Estonia. Visitor will get a glimpse of the world a thousand years ago.
