Our
society
We have come together in appreciation of the history of our land and our people, the beautiful nature and perhaps even more beautiful heritage of our culture.
We think that every person, young or old, rich or poor, can never be content without knowing about their roots, without knowing the history of their land and their people. Estonian cultural heritage, estonian history and the dealings of our ancestors are still defining us and our everyday life. Austrvegr Selts has come together to better understand history, to find out and perhaps to teach others how our ancestors lived.

Austrvegr means "eastern route". That is the name that our neighbours from Scandinavia gave to the land of our ancestors. Through our lands went the main route between Northern Europe and Asia. Arabian silver and magnificent riches went through here. Merchants, craftsmen and warriors travelled through here.
